Bromelia Specialist

We work closely with the Bromelia Specialist for many years. A supplier who works with the best Bromeliad growers. Nature comes on the first place. So sustainability is a must too. And they have found a very special way to do so... with geckos!

Gekko Bromelia SpecialistSustainable insect control

The Bromelia Specialist uses almost no chemical products. As a result, there is a wealth of biological life in the greenhouses. Such as, for example, spiders. Fortunately, these spiders are not harmful to the plants. However, they do leave webs and spider droppings. An ideal solution are geckos! A lizard that sees the spiders as a delicacy. "Because we want to deliver clean plants to our customers, we have found a biological solution by using Geckos. These Geckos are a natural enemy of spiders and ensure a good biological balance in the greenhouses and cleaner plants," says Siegfried Bunnik - Commercial Manager.

Other sustainable techniques

The Bromelia Specialist does a lot more for the environment:

- Trucks drive as less as possible and are fully loaded

- CO2 emissions are absorbed and converted into oxygen by the plants

- The sun is used to save energy

- Residual heat is used for heating

- Collection and reuse of rainwater

- Recycled materials for packaging

Separating waste

The Bromelia Specialist also gives nature a helping hand. The company is a partner of Adopteer Regenwoud. This way, they protect the rainforest in Costa Rica. And also the tropical roots of the Bromeliads. The ultimate goal is to protect 2000 hectares of rainforest. This will also allow monkeys and jaguars to return to the area.
